Occasionally a battery of 155s would camp near us. This is a 155 in fire mission, at rest while the crew loads. As you can see smoke and dust fills the area during firing.
Notice that the barrel is shiny. This is because it is part of the recoil system. Upon firing the entire barrel slides backward within the gun frame.
