Going Home!
Freedom Bird is on its Way!
In this case it's a supply chinook. It carries the mail (orange bags), and other important stuff. But the most important mission today is to take Griffin back to town, on his way "back to the world". Here he stands, after more than a year in the jungle hell. And as I take the photo I get sick to my stomach, knowing that I still have ten more months to go in this Hell! He's thinking, "God just let me get up in the air without another mortar attack!" Griffin will go back to Tay Ninh, then on to Tan Son Nhut, or Bien Hoa Air Base to catch the "real" freedom bird back to the USA. When we rotated out, it was one day in the jungle, then the next on the streets of LA; quite a culture shock!
